  4. Purpose:

  7. Music Base is my attempt at a music database (note: NOT a CD database). I
  8. have seen many music database's for the Arc. However, none of them were very
  9. flexible in what they stored about the CD's (some just stored a set number of
  10. tracks per CD, some just stored only basic information about a paticular CD).

  12. I do have quite a lot of CD's and I felt that if I was to spend a lot of time
  13. putting them all into a database I would rather put them into one that could
  14. at least properly store all the information about the CD. At the time though,
  15. I didn't know much about programming (so what's new?? :-) ). Now that I have
  16. a bit more expertise in this area I figured I should write my own database
  17. that would do everything I wanted it to (well..most things at any rate).

  19. However, I ended up writing this instead.. but it's the next best thing. :-)

  21. Features:
  22. ========

  24. Music Base will hold different 'entries' in it's database. An entry is a
  25. complete CD/Tape item (could be an album/single/double album/triple
  26. album??/etc.). Within an item are several parts. There will be 1 part to most
  27. entries but double albums will have 2, triple will have 3, etc. Within each
  28. part are the tracks!

  30. * Music Base can store up to 64 tracks per part.
  31. * Music Base can handle double sided media (tapes,etc.)
  32. * Music Base can be used in conjunction with (specially written) CD players
  33.   (for CD-ROM drives)
  34. * Music Base will allow a seperate artist for each track to be stored (for
  35.   compilation albums, etc.)

  37. Problems/Future Improvements:

  40. - No error handling
  41. - Messy icon arrangements
  42. - May be a bit memory thirsty
  43. - Low on useful features:

  45.   - No searches
  46.   - No sorting

  48. If there is enough feedback I will probably put these features in pretty
  49. soon. Otherwise I'll just do it when I feel like it.. :-)..but it will get
  50. done..
